SLCC meeting was held in Punjab in February 2024 under the Chairmanship of Sh Ajoy Sharma, IAS, Health Secretary where the representatives from 16 departments while reviewing the NTCP program discussed the need and necessity of Tobacco Vendor Licensing in Punjab and how it will support COTPA, 2003 implementation.
Punjab State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) meeting was held virtually under the chairmanship of Sh. Kumar Rahul, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Punjab on 15 th September 2021, with the technical support of Generation Saviour Association. Dr Sandeep Singh Gill, State Nodal Officer, National Tobacco Control Programme, Punjab briefed the representatives from stakeholder departments the objectives of State Level Coordination Committee. He also enumerated the role of various departments and how they can coordinate to establish tobacco free generation in Punjab. Sh. Kumar Rahul reviewed the action taken by various departments and steps initiated in Implementation of anti-tobacco/nicotine laws in the state of Punjab. He also called for a No Tolerance approach towards E- Cigarettes and Hookah bars. Dr Rana J Singh Deputy Regional Director, The Union- South East Asia also suggested to take measures for tobacco vendor licensing and increasing tobacco access age in Punjab.
